A woman has reportedly died after a one-storey residential building collapsed during a heavy downpour at Adenta Newsite near Da Yesu Ase Supermarket in Accra on Thursday evening.
The building, which comprised ground and first-floor apartments, caved in and trapped five occupants beneath the debris. The victims included two women, three children and one adult male.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), two injured victims were rescued by community members before emergency responders arrived at the scene and were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Fire Service rescue teams subsequently pulled two more injured occupants from the rubble, bringing the total number of survivors rescued to four. All four victims are receiving medical care at the 37 Military Hospital.
A dog trapped in the collapsed structure was also rescued alive.
Rescue operations continued into the night as emergency personnel searched for the remaining occupant, an adult woman. However, reports from the scene indicate that she was later found dead beneath the debris.

The GNFS commended residents and other emergency agencies for their swift response and support during the rescue operation.
Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the collapse, while investigations are expected to begin after rescue efforts are concluded.
