The Ghana Police Service has trained 45 personnel and representatives of key public institutions in the Volta Region ahead of the operationalisation of the Traffitech-GH system on October 1, 2026.
The training, organised by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in collaboration with its private sector partner, was held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho.
According to the Police, the training “forms part of ongoing preparations towards the operationalisation of Traffitech-GH on 1st October 2026, in accordance with Regulation 242.”
It was the fifth and final session in a nationwide series of enforcement training programmes.
Participants included MTTD personnel from Ho and representatives from the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
The Police said participants were taken through “automated road traffic offences and fines under Regulation 242, an overview and implementation of the Traffitech-GH system, and the contest flow.”
They were also given an overview of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519) and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).
The selected regional back-office team also received practical training on “the operation of the in vehicle fixed camera and the handheld or tripod Lasercam4 speed camera.”
The Police further disclosed that the Volta Regional back office has been equipped with the updated Traffitech-GH software.
It said, “As part of preparations for the commencement of Traffitech-GH on 1st October 2026, the Volta Region back office has also been set up with the updated Traffitech-GH software at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho.”
Traffitech-GH is expected to strengthen automated road traffic enforcement through the use of technology to detect and process traffic offences.
