The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has engaged the World Bank on strategies to promote sustainable and resilient urban development in Ghana.
The discussions focused on approaches to developing cities that are better planned, more inclusive and capable of responding effectively to the challenges associated with rapid urbanisation.
Mr Ayariga said the cities being developed today would have a direct impact on the opportunities, quality of life and prospects of future generations.
He stressed the need for Ghana to adopt practical approaches to strengthening urban infrastructure and improving service delivery to meet the growing needs of communities.
The Minister also underscored the importance of developing cities that can withstand emerging challenges while ensuring that the benefits of urban development are accessible to all sections of society.
The engagement with the World Bank forms part of efforts to support sustainable urban development and build resilient communities capable of meeting the demands of a growing population.
