National Democratic Congress (NDC) national communications team member Julius Karl D. Fieve has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to make the necessary changes to strengthen its electoral appeal following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Mr Fieve argued that the NPP missed an opportunity to reflect on the factors that contributed to its electoral loss during its recent national delegates’ conference.
He said the party’s defeat stemmed from what he described as arrogance of power, corruption, mismanagement and incompetence during its time in government, rather than alleged intimidation of its supporters by members of the NDC.
According to him, the delegates’ conference presented an opportunity for the NPP to reassess its performance and reposition itself to regain public confidence, but the party failed to make the necessary changes.
Mr Fieve also questioned the party’s record on infrastructure development, challenging it to identify significant projects completed during its tenure in government.
He argued that the NPP had relied heavily on its Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy when highlighting its achievements, without demonstrating comparable accomplishments in other areas of national development.

The NDC communicator further criticised the NPP’s recent leadership choices, arguing that the party needed experienced figures capable of rebuilding its relationship with young people, the middle class and sections of the media.
He maintained that the NPP must confront the underlying reasons for its electoral defeat rather than attribute the outcome to the conduct of its political opponents.
Mr Fieve said the party’s ability to recover from the 2024 defeat would depend on an honest assessment of its record in government and a willingness to address the concerns that contributed to its loss.
