The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has finally appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament after they were threatened with a subpoena by the committee.
The FDA had earlier appeared to snub the committee after long delays in appearing before it Monday morning.
In May this year, the FDA failed to appear before the committee after invitations to answer questions on various issues.
The FDA led by its acting Chief Executive Officer Dilys Mimi Darko are currently answering questions on expired drugs among others.
Mrs. Darko apologised for their late arrival indicating that it was due to a mishap in the invitation letters sent to them.
The PAC consists of not more than 25 members and it is chaired by a member who does not belong to the party which controls the executive branch of government.
Its duty is to examine the audited accounts in order to see to the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet the public expenditure of the government as presented to the House by the Auditor-General.
