Teachers and Pupils of Ascension Presbyterian Junior High School “C” in Koforidua in the Eastern Region were visibly surprised by the unannounced visit by the Deputy Education Minister in Charge of Secondary Education, Dr.Yaw Osei Adutwum, on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

Characteristic of the Deputy Education Minister, he visited the school after attending a program at the Regional Library directly opposite the School.

The Minister encouraged the students using his own life experience from rags to riches by deed of hard work and perseverance in Education, having strived to own the biggest basic School in the United State of America and now, serving as a Deputy Minister.

He told the students to take advantage of the regional library to read more books to enhance their prowess in the English Language to help boost their performances in other subjects.

Dr.Yaw Osei Adutwum also said government has introduced the Free Senior High School Policy to provide equal opportunity to every Ghanaian Child to at least obtain Secondary Education.

The Minister also interacted with teachers in the School and encourage them to give off their best in imparting knowledge onto the children.

The Head of Ascension Presbyterian JHS “C” Rev. Constance Afrakomah, told Starr News the visit by the Minister is historic given that no Minister has visited the school.

She said both students and teachers are motivated by the Deputy Minister’s visit. She tabled before him the issue of lack of ICT and science laboratory as well as inadequate classroom infrastructure which the Deputy Minister assured of drawing the attention of GETFUND to work on it.
