Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has strongly denied reports that he has been summoned by the Minority, describing the claim as untrue.
The Effutu Member of Parliament (MP), in a post on his Facebook page addressed to the station ordered that a story published by Joy FM on myjoyonline.com be pulled down.
“Your report that I have been summoned is untrue. On the contrary, ahead of the reconvening of Parliament, I have summoned my colleagues for our Caucus meeting, as is routinely done ahead of every Meeting of Parliament, to strategise and coordinate our parliamentary business,” he wrote.
Joy News had reported that the Minority Leader is expected to face questions from members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Caucus this morning over allegations of extortion made against him by Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.
But Afenyo-Markin insists the Caucus meeting has nothing to do with a possible probe or questioning insisting that such Caucus meetings are standard practice.
“This is a regular practice of the Caucus and should not be misrepresented as anything else,” he posted.
Afenyo-Markin called on Joy FM to “pull down the misinformation on your website and correct the record.”
The clarification comes as Ghana’s Parliament prepares to reconvene for a five-day sitting from Monday, 24 August to Friday, 28 August 2026.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin recalled the House from recess under Standing Order 58(4) to consider urgent parliamentary business, including pending ministerial nominations.
