Akufo-Addo constituting “most excellent” cabinet – Adei

The former rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Prof Stephen Adei, has lauded president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo’s choices of ministerial appointments.

According to him, apart from the difference the personality of the president-elect brings to the presidency, it seems “he [Akufo-Addo] is on his way to put in place one of the most excellent cabinets Ghana has ever had from the little names which have been dropped here and there. We await the full list.”

Prof Adei, speaking in an interview last year, Thursday 15 December, 2016 called on Akufo-Addo to appoint more experienced hands as ministers in his government rather than youth with no experience warning that “we saw these babies with sharp teeth and other things and they nearly ruined our country and destroyed our culture with impunity and disrespect.”

Expressing his delight at the caliber of persons being appointed as ministers in the incoming government by Akufo-Addo, he stated  that the cabinet that will be constituted as a result will be the “most excellent.”

“When I heard yesterday the mentioning of the name of Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, this morning my wife and I, in our devotion, said: ‘Thank God for his appointment.’ …I’m not going to get anything from Kwabena but I know Kwabena is not going there to take bribe,” said Prof Adei on Tuesday in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM.

Akufo-Addo has since being pronounced as Ghana’s president-elect, tipped Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto for the Agriculture ministry, Alan Kyerematen as trade and industry minister and Isaac Asiamah for sports.

Also former member of parliament  for Ayawaso West Wuogon Frema Opare has been picked by Akufo-Addo to become the first female Chief of Staff in the country’s history.
