Former CEO of National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has declared his intention to contest for the position of National Vice Chairman.
In a statement addressing party faithful, he said the decision was in response to what he described as a “clarion call” from the rank and file of the party.
“Therefore, I hereby formally announce my decision to vie for the position of National Vice Chairman when nominations open,” he stated.
Dr. Abdul-Hamid, who has been active in the party since its early days, outlined his long-standing involvement and experience, tracing his political journey back to the formation of the NPP in 1992.
“This is not an ambition born of personal gain, but a desire to give back to the party,” he said, adding that he was present during key moments in the party’s history, including its transition from the Danquah-Busia tradition.
He highlighted his previous roles within the party, including serving as the first elected National Youth Organizer, spokesperson for former flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, and Deputy National Campaign Manager during the 2020 elections.
“I have been forged in the fire of battle. I have won some and lost some. I have the scars to show,” he noted.
Dr. Abdul-Hamid also described himself as a scholar, stating that he possesses the intellectual capacity to support future party leadership.
He further called for unity and restructuring within the party, expressing confidence in its ability to regain power.
