The Anglican Church of Ghana (Internal Province of Ghana) has urged Government, state institutions and citizens to strengthen their collective commitment to national development, environmental protection and moral integrity.
This was contained in a communiqué issued at the close of the 4th Provincial Synod, held at E-Hotel in Nsuta in the Asante Region.
Held under the theme, “Reigniting Oneness in Mission, Ministry and Presence in the Ghanaian Anglican Context,” the Synod brought together Bishops, clergy and lay members, who reaffirmed their commitment to deepening authentic Christian discipleship and nurturing Christ-centred communities. The Church said it remained dedicated to fostering accountability, love and service across all spheres of society.
On environmental protection, the Church called on the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and related agencies to intensify efforts to conserve and restore the nation’s natural resources. It also encouraged citizens to adopt sustainable lifestyles and responsible stewardship “for the benefit of future generations.”

The Synod expressed “grave concern” over the continued destruction of the environment through illegal mining (galamsey). While commending progress made so far, it urged Government to take “decisive, sustained, and transparent measures” to eliminate the menace and protect the country’s natural heritage.
Addressing matters of national security, the Church emphasised the importance of professionalism and integrity within state institutions. It called for peaceful and impartial resolution of chieftaincy and land disputes to promote lasting cohesion. The Synod also extended “deepest condolences” to families of those who died in the recent Ghana Armed Forces recruitment stampede, adding that responsible agencies must ensure adequate safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
On corruption, the Anglican Church reaffirmed its support for the national fight and urged public officials to act with transparency and accountability. It encouraged faith communities to instil values of honesty and integrity, stressing the need to make corrupt practices “unattractive and unprofitable.”

The Synod further appealed for increased investment in the health and education sectors, describing them as essential pillars of national progress. Continuous reforms, the Church said, must aim at improving access, efficiency and equity in service delivery.
The Anglican Church of Ghana pledged to continue partnering with Government, civil society and all Ghanaians “in building a just, peaceful, and prosperous nation under God.” It encouraged citizens to remain steadfast in unity, faith and integrity as the country pursues the common good.
The communiqué was issued on November 14, 2025, and signed by the Most Rev’d Dr Cyril Ben-Smith, Archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana.
