The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has pledged his unwavering support to the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) in the implementation of the government’s flagship “No Fees Stress” policy.
The No Fees Stress initiative, recently launched by the government, aims to provide financial assistance to first-year students enrolled in public universities, nursing colleges, and teacher training institutions. Through a newly developed online portal, eligible students can apply for loans to cover admission and user fees.
To date, over 22,592 students have been validated, with more than 98,861 applicants completing the application process.
During a courtesy visit to the SLTF management, Dr. Amoakohene praised their efforts and emphasized the importance of timely financial support for students.
“I only came here for a visit, but I can see the great work you are doing,” he stated. “I want to assure you of my unwavering support. In the Ashanti Region, I will make sure successful applicants receive their funds, as promised by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.”
The Minister also urged SLTF management to prioritize prompt disbursement of funds to ensure students can focus on their academic pursuits without financial hindrance.
“I appeal to you to ensure timely disbursement of financial support to tertiary students, as this is critical to the reset agenda. Let’s work together to make the country great,” he added.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund, Hajia Saajida Shiraz, expressed her appreciation for the Minister’s visit and support.
“Our primary responsibility is to provide timely financial resources for the benefit of tertiary students in Ghana, and we are on course. Thank you for your support and commitment,” she said
The No Fees Stress policy is targeted at all Ghanaian students in public tertiary institutions and reaffirms the government’s commitment to expanding access to education. The SLTF remains dedicated to disbursing funds to successful applicants by the end of June 2025.
