Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman constituency in Eastern region, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has donated two large polytanks and ten streetlights to Boso Senior High Technical School (SHTS) as a proactive move to tackle water and security challenges at the institution.
The donation of polytanks serves as a crucial intervention to alleviate the water crisis faced by Boso SHTS.
The school, along with four others in the Yilo Krobo area, had been disconnected by the Ghana Water Company Limited due to accumulated unpaid bills by the government.
Additionally, the absence of functional streetlights on the campus had compromised security, raising concerns among the school’s management.
Thomas Ampem Nyarko’s donation of streetlights is aimed at illuminating the school premises, thereby enhancing security measures.
The MP, while fulfilling his promise, stated, “I visited Boso Senior High Technical School, where I presented 2 poly tanks and 10 street lights. I also used the opportunity to inspect the installation of some air-conditioners I donated to the school for their ICT lab. All these interventions are part of my contribution in reflection of my commitment to improve quality education in the Constituency. I thank the German Embassy through GIZ for providing the Polytanks to me as part of their support to the Akosombo Dam Spillage flood victims “.
The MP earlier joined JAF Group for menstrual hygiene education and donation of sanitary pads to teenage girls at Tosen community.
Thomas Ampem Nyarko’s consistent support for education has earned him high commendation.
Notably, he recently constructed a Teachers’ Bungalow at Adjena Senior High School.
At the basic education level, the MP is increasing access to early childhood education by establishing kindergartens in remote communities, addressing the challenges faced by children unable to travel long distances to attend school.
In addition to donating teaching and learning materials to basic schools, Thomas Ampem Nyarko has instituted a reading program to encourage literacy among young learners.
Annually, he provides financial grants to needy but brilliant students enrolling in tertiary education to support their educational journey.
