The streets of Kumasi will once again come alive in a sea of pink as Breast Care International (BCI) gears up for the 2025 edition of the “BCI Ghana Walk for the Cure”, Ghana’s largest breast cancer awareness event. Scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025, this year’s walk promises to be bigger, bolder, and more impactful than ever, drawing an expected 30,000 participants from across the country and beyond.
Under the theme “A Cure Worth Fighting For”, the walk will start at Adum Post Office and end at the Manhyia Durbar Grounds, with a vibrant atmosphere of solidarity, hope, and purpose.
But this year is more than just a walk. It marks the rebranding of BCI after over 23 years of tireless service to public health and women in Africa especially, Ghana championing awareness, early detection and prompt action. The refreshed brand identity reflects BCI’s growth, vision, and renewed energy to keep leading the fight against breast cancer in Ghana and across the continent.
Over the years, BCI’s work has reached thousands of women through free screenings, education programs, and lifesaving interventions. The Walk for the Cure has become a symbolic rallying point; uniting survivors, opinion leaders, Government, families, health workers, students, and communities in a shared mission to defeat breast cancer.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, The Founder and President of BCI, emphasized that breast cancer should not be seen as a personal battle. It is a societal and developmental fight that needs collective action.
Therefore, not only a call to action but also a celebration of survivors and rememberance of those who have lost the fight.
As October the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaches, BCI invites everyone to lace up their walking shoes, wear their pink proudly, and join in creating one of the most memorable moments in Ghana’s public health history.
“This is more than just an event. It’s a movement. It’s a family. It’s survivorship, it’s hope in motion,” Dr. Beatrice Wiafe said.
