Former NDC Eastern Regional Chairman, Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has officially announced his return to contest the Eastern Regional Chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Addressing a press conference, Bismark Tawiah Boateng said his decision to return to active leadership follows extensive consultations with party elders, executives, youth and women organizers, former regional chairmen, and party cadres across the region.

According to him, the consistent message from these engagements was a call for his experience and leadership at a critical moment for the party in the Eastern Region.

“For the past 33 years, I have served the NDC from the branch level to the regional level. Leadership for me has never been about position, but about service,” he stated.

Bismark Tawiah Boateng affectionately called Otafrigya explained that although he stepped back in recent years to allow new voices to emerge, leadership remains a journey that sometimes requires reflection in preparation for a stronger return.

Tawiah Boateng takes inspiration from the return of President John Mahama and his steller performance.

He stressed that his comeback as Regional Chairman is driven by responsibility rather than personal ambition, noting that the Eastern Region must strengthen its grassroots, rebuild trust, energize party branches, and prepare effectively for future elections.

“Our region is at a critical moment. Unity must go beyond words and be demonstrated through action, and that unity must begin from the regional leadership,” he said.

Bismark Tawiah Boateng recalled that under his previous tenure as Regional Organizer a and Chairman, the party built one of its strongest political structures in the region through effective organization, mobilization, and expansion of the party’s base.

He said the work ahead requires experience, maturity, and the ability to bring all factions together for a common goal.

Formally declaring his intention to contest the chairmanship position, Bismark Tawiah Boateng pledged to offer stability, unity, and experience, as well as a clear roadmap toward electoral victory.

He appealed to branch and constituency executives across the Eastern Region to entrust him once again with the mandate to lead, promising to run a disciplined and results-driven campaign that will reposition the NDC for success.

“Otafrigya has returned not for himself, but for the Eastern Region, for the NDC, and for victory,” he added.
