The High Court in Accra has granted the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, bail in the sum of GH₵100,000 with two sureties to be justified.
The bail comes after the Attorney General, through Deputy AG Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, waived the Prosecution’s right to oppose the grant of bail.
Justice Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit also ordered, as part of the bail conditions, that he report to the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters once every two weeks.
He is also to surrender his travelling documents to the registry of the court and not to travel outside the jurisdiction without the permission of the Court.
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, while being led by former AG Godfred Yeboah Dame, moved the application for bail pending the final determination of the case.
But the Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, said the AG is not opposed to the grant of bail to the accused.
Abronye DC had been remanded by the Circuit Court for two weeks in connection with ongoing investigations into alleged misinformation and offensive public statements.
But, following these latest developments, Abronye DC will have his temporary freedom should he satisfy the bail conditions granted him by the High Court.
