Four people lost their lives in a tragic road traffic accident on Christmas Eve at Twifu Ntafrewaso, along the Cape Coast–Twifo Praso Road.
The Twifo Praso Fire Station received a distress call at about 4:48 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, reporting a vehicular crash at Twifu Ntafrewaso. A rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found that a Hyundai Getz saloon car, with registration number GW 7715-25 and being used for commercial purposes, had veered off the road and crashed into a tree in a nearby bush. The vehicle was traveling from Twifo Mampong towards Twifo Praso.
Three occupants were found trapped in the wreckage. They were extricated by the rescue team and rushed to hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Another casualty had earlier been rescued by civilians before the arrival of the fire service and taken to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital. That victim was also confirmed dead.
Eyewitnesses told authorities that the driver was overspeeding while negotiating a curve on the rainy afternoon, causing the vehicle to lose control. The car was completely wrecked due to the impact.
The incident has renewed concerns about speeding and road safety, particularly during festive seasons when traffic volumes are high.
Authorities have once again urged motorists to exercise caution, reduce speed, and strictly observe road safety regulations to help prevent further loss of lives.
