The Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has been commended for his respect for tolerance and religious diversity, by the Canadian Religious and Cultural Council (CRCC)

The CRCC, a multi-national group for the promotion of peace, diversity and the preservation of culture, hosted Dr. Bawumia and other dignitaries at the Miracle Arena for All Nations on Sunday May 26, 2024, in Ontario, Canada.

With an inter-denomonational audience and people from over 40 different nations in attendance, the ceremony centered on peace and tolerance, and the presence of Dr. Bawumia in the church auditorium, was used as a shining example of religious tolerance.

“Your presence here with us today, is a shining example of diversity and what religious tolerance is,” said the Hon Member of Provential Parliament, David Smith, who was one of the dignitaries present.

Other speakers, including the Head Pastor of the Church, Prophet Dr. Kofi Danso also commended Dr. Bawumia for his deep appreciation of religious diversity.

The Canadian MP, who revealed he has read about Dr. Bawumia, also commended him for his remarkable leadership in pursuing policies which are impacting the Ghanaian nation positively.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the significance peace to human existence, stressing that without tolerance and respect for diversity, there will be no peace.

He spoke extensively about Ghana’s globally acclaimed peace and said the heart of that enviable feat, was Ghana’s respect for religious diversity.

“Peace is the foundation of our existence in the world. Without it, there will be no existence,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“Ghana is a very peaceful country. The second most peaceful country in West Africa, and one of the most peaceful on the African continent. People wonder what is the secret? The secret is Ghana’s religious tolerance and inter faith dialogue,” he told the audience.

“Ghana is the country where the national Chief Imam visits the Church as he celebrates his birthday. Ghana is also a country where priests find it comfortable to be in mosques with their Muslims brothers and pray for the nation. This is the sort of society we are building in Ghana in terms of inter faith and respect for one another.”

Dr. Bawumia assured the audience that Ghana’s peace will not be taken for granted and the nation will continue to uphold tenets that have made the country so peaceful.
