Celebrated Ghanaian chef, culinary educator, entrepreneur and humanitarian Chef Abbys has arrived in Benin Republic, the second destination of her ongoing West Africa Food Tour.
Her arrival follows a successful first stop in Togo as the tour continues its mission to celebrate West Africa’s culinary heritage while promoting cultural exchange and regional collaboration.
In Benin Republic, Chef Abbys is expected to explore traditional markets, local restaurants, street food scenes, indigenous ingredients and authentic home-cooked meals as she seeks to uncover the stories, traditions and people behind the country’s culinary landscape.
Speaking on her arrival in Cotonou, Chef Abbys said the tour is intended to go beyond food discovery by providing insight into the cultures and communities that shape West African cuisine.
“Every country has a unique story to tell through its food, and I’m excited to experience Benin Republic firsthand. This tour is about more than discovering new flavours; it’s about understanding the people, traditions, and heritage that shape every meal.”

The West Africa Food Tour is also expected to provide opportunities for cross-border collaboration, promote African destinations and highlight the potential of the region’s food industry on the global stage.
During the Benin leg, audiences are expected to receive behind-the-scenes content, collaborations with local culinary experts, cultural discoveries and stories highlighting the diversity and resilience of West African cuisine.
Benin Republic is the latest stop in Chef Abbys’ effort to document and showcase Africa’s culinary heritage through food, culture and the experiences of local communities.
