Twenty-four (24) Chinese nationals and a German who were set to enter Ghana Tuesday night were stopped from entering the country, the Information Ministry has disclosed.
The move is part of Ghana’s effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.
Ghana has so far recorded seven cases of the deadly coronavirus which has affected over 200, 000 people globally with over 8, 000 deaths.
Europe is currently the epicentre of the virus with more recent deaths recorded in Italy after China, where the virus originated from, started recording fewer infections.
Addressing a Press Conference, the Ghana Immigration Service revealed that several flights have also been refused to land in the country following the government’s decision to prevent flights from countries with more than 200 infections.
An Ethiopian Airline which managed to land at the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday was refuelled and asked to fly back to its destination with all the passengers on board.
Another German and two Australians who attempted to enter Ghana through the Aflao border were also stopped and sent back to their countries. Another Nigerian who had returned from South Korea and was attempting to enter Ghana through the Aflao border was also denied entry.
