Director General at the National Sports Authority, Peter Twumasi has admonished the Ghana Football Association to be grateful to the government for making their facility available to them anytime they need it for both local and international matches.
His comment come in the wake of the GFA Club Licensing board declaring the Accra Sports Stadium and the Baba Yara Sports Stadium unfit to host matches hence been rejected as match venues ahead of the upcoming Ghana premier League season.
According to the Club Licensing manager, Julius Ben Emuna six core areas were considered by his outfit to reject the newly renovated Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Accra Sports Stadium and 10 other venues for league matches and those areas included dressing room, panel, inner perimeter, pitch, VIP area and Safe Zone.
But Speaking on Sports Fiesta on Starr 103.5 Fm, Peter Twumasi ask whey the GFA will write to his outfit to request for the Accra Sports Stadium to be used for the Black Stars training and Cape Cape Coast Stadium for the world Cup Qualifying match between Ghana and Zimbabwe if their facility is not up to standard.
“We should be very grateful, we should be very thankful, even as we speak a letter has come from the GFA that they want to use the Accra Sports Stadium for training for the Black Stars who are arriving on Monday they will have a training session here.
The letter is even before me, so I don’t know if this place is not fit for it, they wouldn’t even write a letter to request for it for training. And from here we are going to the Cape Coast Stadium for the match against Zimbabwe. That’s why I don’t want to accept the report because if they were coming from the GFA, they wouldn’t write to us again to request for our facility. It’s wrong; something that you are always requesting for, you can choose to go to use private facilities but they prefer the government’s own. Can you compare a training pitch to the Accra Sports Stadium, the Wembley of the Nation? That’s very disrespectful.
The club Licensing Board is expected to take its final decision on the Accra Sports Stadium, Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the 10 other facilities on October 18.
