The Ghana Police Service has revealed that the dismissed Police recruits will be prosecuted for forging documents used in their application.
The Police Service on Friday dismissed some new recruits for failure to meet the basic qualification standards of the service.
The recruitment was made under the former NDC government, and under the leadership of former IGP John Kudalor.
Some of the dismissed recruits, did not meet the minimum qualification requirements for entry into the service, while others did not have certificates at all.
The IGP David Asante-Apeatu is said to have instructed recruits who applied with WASSCE to be re-vetted before admission while those who submitted BECE, NVTI, NABPTEX and City and Guilds certificates are to return home.
Superintendent Cephas Arthur, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service speaking on Accra 100.5FM said the recruits will definitely be prosecuted.
“They are definitely going home; not just that, the law will deal with them as well…the administration has decided to enforce the law against them especially those who forged documents to deceive a public officer. They will face the law.”
Supt. Arthur also confirmed that the number of recruits sacked is 2016 and not 3000 as being reported.
“The number is 206, not 3000. If the number were 3000, it would mean we dismissed all the police officers we recruited in the service. That is not the case. The figures are nowhere close to 3000.”
