National Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Kankam Boadu, is pitching himself as the man to heal divisions within the party, warning that deepening cracks could push the NPP toward political irrelevance if not urgently addressed.
Appearing on Starr Today on Starr 103.5 FM, Mr. Kankam Boadu blamed the party’s growing disunity on what he described as a “winner-takes-all” and “use-and-dump” syndrome—practices he believes have pushed away loyal members and eroded trust within the party’s grassroots.
He compared the situation to the decline of the once-dominant Convention People’s Party (CPP), saying: “The NPP is becoming like the CPP. We may be relegated.”
Kankam Boadu said the NPP now needs fresh leadership capable of restoring confidence, mending fractured relationships, and making the party a model of political organization once again.
“When I’m voted for as the next National Chairman of the NPP, I will ensure the party is worth emulating,” he told host Tutuwaa Danso.
Positioning himself as a unifying figure with new ideas, Kankam Boadu argued that the NPP must break away from the same crop of leaders who, in his view, have presided over the party’s current cracks. He maintained that his integrity makes him the ideal candidate to rally all factions under one banner.
As part of his unity agenda, the aspiring National Chairman is urging senior party figures, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and current National Chairman Stephen Ntim, to apologize to the grassroots as a first step toward rebuilding trust and inspiring hope among members.
Kankam Boadu insists that his ultimate goal is to restore the NPP’s unity, credibility, and appeal so the party can remain a strong political force for future generations. His chairmanship bid comes at a time when political watchers are expressing growing concerns over internal disunity ahead of the party’s internal elections in 2026.
