A youth group in Asamankese in the Eastern region has appealed to President Akufo-Addo not to renominate the Municipal Chief Executive for West Akyem Municipality Seth Oduro Boadu for his second term.

According to the Asamankese Youth for Development, Mr Oduro Boadu failed in his numerous promises to develop the municipality.

In a statement, the group said the municipality has retrogressed under the leadership of the MCE making him the worst MCE for the area since the municipality was created.

“Unfortunately AYD is shocked that when it comes to development, the West Akim Municipality has not had its fair share of the national cake. We have not benefited much from governmental projects such as the construction and asphalting of town roads which is being carried out throughout other Municipalities in Eastern region like Oda, Akwatia, and Kibi just to mention a few which happen to be our close neighbors.

“Specific examples can be made of the James town and Roman down roads that our MCE emphatically promised in 2018 to get them completed in February 2019 but such projects have still not seen the light of day even till now in April, 2021.

We believe that, our MCE lacks the ability of maneuvering and engineering to lobby his way through for projects,” the statement said.

It stressed: “And as if that is not enough, through reliable sources, AYD is informed that the MCE does not accord our Revered personalities such as our Traditional leaders, our Religious leaders, and the Youth in the Municipality with the needed respect and dignity hence the appeal to the President NOT to re-appoint him.

“AYD again believes that, Hon Seth Oduro Boadu has demonstrated for the past 4years that, he takes interest only in a small group of people around him in what can be described as an unproductive and unscrupulous divide and rule tactics. He is a failure in terms of building strong relationships with the people. So the general perception of the citizenry in the Municipality about the MCE is that, he is the worse MCE the West Akyem Municipality has ever had under this 4th republic”.

The statement noted they will resist any attempt by any group of people to impose the MCE on the municipality.

Below are details of the statement

The Asamankese Youth for Development wishes to remind the President and Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Developments and the Authorities concerned that, we are still standing by our PRESS RELEASE on 23rd December 2020, on the above subject in which we appealed to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the president of the Republic of Ghana NOT to re-appoint Hon. Seth Oduro Boadu as MCE for West Akyem Municipal Assembly for the following reasons:

AYD believes that, our MCE represents the President of the Republic of Ghana and so he superintends all activities especially in the provision of Social amenities and other developmental projects. But unfortunately AYD is shocked that when it comes to development, the West Akim Municipality has not had its fair share of the national cake. We have not benefited much from governmental projects such as the construction and asphalting of town roads which is being carried out throughout other Municipalities in Eastern region like Oda, Akwatia, and Kibi just to mention a few which happen to be our close neighbors.

Specific examples can be made of the James town and Roman down roads that our MCE emphatically promised in 2018 to get them completed in February 2019 but such projects have still not seen the light of day even till now in April, 2021.

We believe that, our MCE lacks the ability of maneuvering and engineering to lobby his way through for projects.

In furtherance, our MCE has done nothing to uplift the image of the Municipal Assembly but rather has plunged the indigenes in the Municipality into disrepute, hatred and divisiveness.
His posturing, commands, general commentary, and speeches with all class of people he meets has been distastful. The good people in the municipality decided just to give him the benefit of the doubt by allowing honourable Seth Oduro and giving him a chance to see what he would bring onboard for serving a four year mandatory term. Instead, the MCE has accumulated unto himself the attitude of arrogance and disrespect towards all manner of persons in the Municipality.

And as if that is not enough, through reliable sources, AYD is informed that the MCE does not accord our Revered personalities such as our Traditional leaders, our Religious leaders, and the Youth in the Municipality with the needed respect and dignity hence the appeal to the President NOT to re-appoint him.

AYD again believes that, Hon Seth Oduro Boadu has demonstrated for the past 4years that, he takes interest only in a small group of people around him in what can be described as an unproductive and unscrupulous divide and rule tactics. He is a failure in terms of building strong relationships with the people. So the general perception of the citizenry in the Municipality about the MCE is that, he is the worse MCE the West Akyem Municipality has ever had under this 4th republic.

What broke the camels back in addition to his numerous wrongs is that, he did not show fairness and equity in the distribution of the market lockable stores of which the old tenants were asked to pay Ghc15,000.00 and new tenants also paid Ghc25,000.00 Photographs were taken to ensure that, the old tenants maintained where they were before the construction of the new stores but after completion, the story changed, the old occupants were removed from where they were while the MCE’s favorites were given the shops leaving the old occupants in despair at the eve of electioneering period. AYD condemns the act and describe it as unfair.

Finally, AYD knows for a fact that, the MCE has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that, he is not a good leader, team player, ambassador for good governance, and not a father for all but for a few.

On the basis of the above mentioned factors, we the Asamankese Youth for Development hereby say that, “WE ARE SICK AND TIRED” of Hon Seth Oduro Boadu’s uninspiring leadership role as the MCE and therefore REMINDING the president of the Republic of Ghana NOT to re-appoint him.

We however plead with the president to grant our humble request because, the future will be much more gloomy at West Akim Municipality if Hon Seth Oduro Boadu is allowed to continue as the MCE.
