The newly sworn-in chairperson for the Dr. Prince Hamid Armah Foundation, Nana Yaa Arthur, says the new board will be guided by a strategic plan and a mission to improve quality of life in Kwesiminstim and beyond.

She said this will be done through the provision of skills and education, support for entrepreneurship and innovation, and empowerment of local communities.

Nana Yaa Arthur is an expert in oil and gas and mental health professional.

She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Mental Health and Social Services from De Montford University in the United Kingdom. She is an advocate for women empowerment and host of Family Digest which airs on EIB radio Empire 102.7FM and currently the Aviation Operations superintendent at Tullow Oil.

The Dr Prince Hamid Armah foundation was founded in 2018 by the current Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim and Vice-Chair for the select committee on education in Ghana’s parliament.

The foundation his since its inception supplied over twenty-thousand exercise books, trained over 700 youth in graphic designing, donated mathematical sets to every BECE candidate in the constituency, hundreds of cement bags for some developmental projects in the constituency as well as the provision of motorbikes to the Kwesimintsim and Anaji police stations among others.

Speaking during the launch of the foundation and swearing-in ceremony of the nine-member Board, she added that the new board will strive to reach the right audience by identifying the key people who might use the program and services the foundation provides while ensuring that quality is not compromised

“We will strive for quality over quantity and stay focused on our mission. We will continually explain what we do and show results. We will resort to diverse funding sources and periodically conduct evaluations to ensure that the Foundation is keeping pace with environmental changes and use best practices” she stressed

She promised to provide professional, focused, and enlightened leadership which will help them achieve an enviable legacy for the Dr Prince Hamid Armah foundation.

Founder of the  Foundation Dr. Prince Hamid Armah during his keynote address told the board to note that the socio-economic conditions of Kwesimintsim are not new or unique, as in several parts of the region and the country.

“We are faced with the problems of unemployment, limited access to health and education and poor infrastructure.

He said it is important for citizens of Ghana to partner the government to help develop the country.

“It is time, I believe, to respond to the challenge President John F. Kennedy threw to his people some five decades ago and ask what we can do for our country and not merely what our country can do for us”.
