The Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, and the Paramount Chief of the Nsein Traditional Area, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, have extended support to Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, for his ongoing movie production, A Journey To Africa, at Nzulezu in the Western Region.
Madam Affo-Toffey, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport, made an undisclosed cash donation towards the production, while Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III paid a surprise visit to the actor and his cast on set.
The MP, in support of the project, sent the Jomoro Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Benedict Boadi, to the filming location to present the donation to the production team.
Speaking on behalf of the MP, Mr Boadi said she was ready to support Lil Win and the wider Ghanaian movie industry, particularly initiatives in Nzulezu and the Jomoro Municipality.
The support comes as Lil Win and his production team work on the film, which is being produced by Weezy Empire and features several prominent Nigerian actors, including Patience Ozokwor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Zubby Michael, Charles Awurum, Mike Ezuruonye and Destiny Etiko.
During his visit, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III interacted with the cast and crew, commended their creative efforts and shared his thoughts on the development of Ghana’s film industry.
The traditional ruler also recommended actors IK and Rukaya for consideration in the ongoing production, expressing interest in creating opportunities for Ghanaian talent to participate in local film projects.
Chief backs Lil Win’s proposed Nkrumah film
Beyond the ongoing production, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III pledged his prayers for Lil Win’s proposed movie about Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, to become a reality.
The proposed project seeks to bring the life and legacy of the former president to the big screen, potentially offering audiences an opportunity to engage with an important chapter of Ghana’s political history through film.
The chief’s gesture signals his goodwill towards the actor’s ambition to undertake the historical project.
Nzulezu offers tourism potential
The filming of A Journey To Africa at Nzulezu has also drawn attention to the tourism potential of the Jomoro Municipality.
Nzulezu, a historic settlement built on stilts over Lake Tadane, is known for its distinctive architecture and cultural heritage, making it a notable destination for visitors interested in Ghana’s natural and cultural attractions.
The production offers an opportunity to showcase the community’s unique setting to audiences beyond Ghana while highlighting the Western Region’s tourism potential.
