Duffuor Foundation launched

The HODA Holdings has launched the Duffuor Foundation with the primary function of serving as the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the group.

“This is to help further our Founder’s objective of giving back to society and seeing to the needs of the underprivileged. This Foundation metamorphosed from the Dr. Kwabena Duffuor Foundation, (est. in 2013),” a director of the Foundation, Boatemaa Duffuor Barfour-Awuah said during the 8th Annual Thanksgiving Service of the HODA Holdings.

The Duffuor Foundation’s objective is to connect directly with the less privileged in our communities and offer support, protection and a better sustainable life in the areas of Education, Health, Socio-Economic Development, Sports and Environment.

She noted: “Over the years, providing social assistance has been a major priority that has run through all the companies that comprise the HODA Holdings Group. This is because the Group understands the importance of consistently giving back to our communities and contributing to national and global development. Our joint companies have implemented hundreds of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Although these initiatives come with substantial costs, its impact within our communities – providing hope and improving the lives of hundreds of people – shows that these initiatives are indeed needed.”

“Few examples of these include facilitation of reconstructive surgeries, refurbishment of a maternity ward at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and several other refurbishments, various charitable constructions, support funds, monetary and non-monetary donations and weighty financial sponsorships for institutions, hospitals, schools, individuals and others.

“Having achieved so much as individual companies, we can only agree that if we put our resources together and consolidate our efforts, we could even do more. It is time, therefore, to consolidate the CSR efforts of our Conglomerate with the anticipation of a wider reach and greater impact. Rather than supporting 150 patients with reconstructive surgery, perhaps we can support 250, 300, or even 500. From a bigger pool, we can help rehabilitate more hospitals and provide more scholarships. Consolidation of our CSR offers additional benefits:

“1) central focus, 2) capitalizing on our synergies, 3) research and conducting strategic CSR which will help promote HODA’s goodwill.

“The Duffuor Foundation would also centrally touch a deeper base with the local and international community and fortify all the Group’s businesses as socially responsive and committed to sustainable development. Some of us here may have been beneficiaries of someone’s benevolence; a family member, a friend, or perhaps a total stranger. For those of us in this category, it is easy to connect with all that I have said so far. This is the time for each one of us to give back to society! The Duffuor Foundation provides this platform so on behalf of the Foundation, I am extending an invitation to all staff of HODA Holdings to be honorary members of this Foundation and participate in our efforts to lead social development in Ghana and globally,” Mrs. Barfour-Awuah noted.
