Four illegal miners have been arrested Friday in the Atewa Forest Reserve in the Eastern Region.
The Suspects, Emmanuel Mensah, 26, Rashid Alhasan, 50, Zule Ali, 45, and Emmanuel Owusu-23 have been handed over to the Eastern Regional Police CID.
The suspects, according to the Begoro District Forestry Manager Kwame Oteng Awuah, were arrested while mining close to Prang and Omenatwi rivers in the Akyem Akwadum to Potroase stretch of the Forest.

Over 1300 illegal miners have been arrested by the Operation Vanguard Taskforce since the unit commenced operation to clamp down on illegal mining across the country.
About 175 of the aforementioned figure are foreigners consisting; some 159 Chinese, an Indian, three Nigerians, seven Burkinabes and three Nigeriens.
The taskforce, also seized about 570 excavators; 2067 water pumping machines, 71 vehicles and motorbikes respectively, 4992 chanfan machines, 106 weapons and 2333 ammunition.
