Elderly leaders have let Ghana down; look to the youth – Nana Kwame Bediako

Leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako otherwise Freedom Jacob Caesar, has taken it hard at successive governments accusing Ghana’s elderly leadership of driving the country backward with no vision for industrialization.

Nana Bediako shared the concern when he paid a courtesy call on the Juaben Hemaa Nana Akosua Akyamaa IV as part of his listening tour of the Ashanti Region.

He questioned why the nation’s leaders, for several years, could not envision equipping every region with the processing plants required to add value to the produce and minerals, grown and extracted for decades from resource-rich zones of Ghana.

“Why does it have to take a white man to come here to build a factory when we know the unemployment situation we face? While a majority of our youth walk without jobs, government can only absorb a handful,” he bemoaned.

He explained how value addition through industrialization is generating several backward and forward linkages, creating a huge number of direct sustainable jobs for industrialized countries where young energetic Ghanaians are now trooping at huge costs to work.

“After one farming cycle, some harvests are processed for over six times into different products. That is where the job lies and that is where we can cut down on our imports and get the foreign exchange to build the roads, railways, and other infrastructure for ourselves,” he elucidated.

He expressed worry several idle youth in their productive years have gotten into drugs and other vices because of what he called the bad governance that elderly citizens have subjected a once thriving country to.

Polarized Nation

Nana Kwame Bediako observed that instead of focusing on the core matters of developing Ghana, the nation has been sharply divided along the two dominant political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He contended that uniting what he pictured as a heavily fragmented country was a task too arduous for the elderly to accomplish.

“The work of patching a badly severed country together is not the work for the old. It’s the work of our youth who have a future ahead of them; our youth who have the strength and fresh blood,” he stated.

He argued that even though they formed part of the society, the elderly could at best provide advice to support the youth of the country make decisions to chat about a new future they desire.

“I want the country to recognize that we have tried the old for a long time. We thought they were passionate about building our future for us. But we now know that people who have already lived their future out have not helped. At best they can offer their advice from their experiences,” he pointed out.

Juaben Hemaa’s Encouragement

The queen mother for Juaben, Nana Akosua Akyamaa IV encouraged the leader of the New Force to continue inspiring the youth unto positive earns as he embarks on his listening tour.

She reiterated the rising spate of social vises, drugs, and commercial sex work among the youth who have turned to such activities because of unemployment.

“As you go into the community, make sure you listen to their concerns. Write them down and be sure to come help us,” she instructed.

Freedom Jacob Caesar and his team later held a town hall meeting where he interacted with the residents of Juaben to learn about their developmental needs.

The information he is gathering on his 16-region tour according to the New Force Team, will culminate into a manifesto document that represents the aspirations of the people.

Nana Kwame Bediako has also announced on his five-day tour of the Ashanti Region, a 16-region industrial revolution that identifies a dominant resource for value addition in each region of Ghana should he win the December election.
