Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of Directors for the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), tasking members to take decisive action in resolving persistent operational and revenue challenges confronting the utility provider.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Accra, Hon. Jinapor underscored the strategic importance of NEDCo within Ghana’s energy supply chain, particularly its critical role in ensuring reliable electricity access across the northern parts of the country.

He outlined three key priorities for the board: boosting revenue mobilization, deepening customer education, and guaranteeing consistent power supply across all operational areas.

“NEDCo remains a critical player in Ghana’s energy distribution framework. As board members, your leadership must bring about meaningful change. You are expected to strengthen revenue collection systems, drive effective customer engagement, and, most importantly, ensure that the lights are kept on at all times,” the Minister said.

Hon. Jinapor also urged the board to promote internal cohesion between management and staff, stressing that effective collaboration was essential for operational efficiency and improved service delivery.

The newly inaugurated NEDCo Board comprises:

  • Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah — Chairman
  • Ing. Prof. Felix Kofi Abagale
  • Dr. Emelia Guo
  • Ing. Edward Obeng Kenzo
  • Ing. John Okine Yamoah (Ag. Managing Director)
  • Alhaji Seidu Imoro

“We are fully aware of the task ahead. My colleagues and I are committed to working diligently with all stakeholders to position NEDCo as a leading example of excellence and innovation in the utility sector, especially within the framework of the new energy transition agenda,” he said.

The inauguration of the new board marks another step in the government’s ongoing reforms to enhance accountability, strengthen corporate governance, and improve service delivery in Ghana’s energy sector.
