Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, Nana Kwasi Boatey Esq., has sounded the alarm over the dangers of counterfeit gazettes, describing them as a direct attack on Ghana’s democracy and the rule of law.
He stressed that attempts to compromise the authenticity of the Gazette amount to waging war on the state itself. “You are doing a disservice to democracy and the rule of law,” he warned, adding that GPCL will work closely with Parliament, the security services, and the judiciary to root out offenders.
Lawyer Boatey called for collective action: “Let us not sympathize with those who profit from fake gazettes. Let us wage this war together and preserve the integrity of Ghana’s official record.”
The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has rolled out a nationwide initiative dubbed ‘Gazette 360’, aimed at demystifying the Ghana Gazette and educating the public on its relevance.
The campaign will feature media engagements, outreach programs, and educational drives to ensure citizens understand what the Gazette is, when it is required, and how to identify authentic copies.
With support from Marry Right Ghana and AngloGold Ashanti, the campaign urges citizens to know the Gazette, use it for legal records, and trust it as protection against fraud and illegitimacy.
