The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially dismissed as false a viral report claiming that about 60% of applicants for military service tested positive for HIV.
This comes following viral social media claims alleging that a majority of applicants for military medical screening were found to be HIV positive.
The GAF described the report as “FAKE NEWS and should be ignored by all,” stressing that the medical screening process is still ongoing and no official results have been released.
In its statement, the armed forces said all efforts are underway to trace the originators of what it called a “mischievous story.”
GAF also urged media practitioners, bloggers, and content creators to verify facts from official sources before publishing, emphasizing the importance of accurate reporting.
