The Energy Ministers of Ghana and Nigeria have held a high-level stakeholder engagement meeting to deepen collaboration between the two countries and ensure the continuous alignment of policies for smooth work relations and economic growth.
The stakeholder engagement meeting held on Friday, February 7, 2025, was between energy stakeholders from Ghana and Nigeria at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, at the request of the Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperipe Ekpo.
Key discussions revolved around enhancing cooperation between the two nations and reviewing ongoing projects, including an update on the West African Gas Pipeline Company’s (WAPCo) pigging activity, which commenced on February 5 and is expected to continue until March 2, 2025.

The meeting also served as a platform to introduce newly appointed heads of various Ghanaian energy agencies to their Nigerian counterparts, fostering stronger institutional relationships.

Among the dignitaries present were Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor; Nigeria’s Minister of State for Gas and Petroleum Resources, Ekperipe Ekpo; Acting Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo; Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Edward Abambire Bawa; and Chief Executive of the Petroleum Commission (PC), Emeafa Hardcastle. Also in attendance were the Chief Executives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo), and the West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA).

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Ghana-Nigeria energy sector cooperation, emphasizing the importance of sustained partnerships to drive regional energy security and economic advancement.
