Moses Basena doesn’t believe Ghana missing ‘big name’ players makes them weaker.
The Black Stars are set to miss over six starters for the Namboole clash following injuries to defenders John Boye, Harrison Afful and Jonathan Mensah as well as forwards Asamoah Gyan and Thomas Agyepong and midfielder Afriyie Acquah.
On top of that, they are without strikers Jordan and Andre Ayew who were boldly left out by Coach Kwesi Appiah.
“Ghana is a country of millions of people,” said Basena as quoted by Monitor Sport. “So if they miss a player or two, I don’t think it can affect them. But if a good player is not playing for a good team, it could be a bonus for you,” he added.
“However, in these teams’ set-ups, there are always people on the look out to be given a chance, and those players are always very dangerous”.
The former Coffee and SC Villa player however prefers to concentrate on the job at hand.
“But ours is what we do in our game because we are thinking that the only way for us to qualify is to win our two games and then hope Egypt drop points”.
Uganda can qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup with victories over Ghana and Congo and hopes that Egypt falters in their remaining two fixtures.
