Ghana’s para athletes have made a remarkable impression at the inaugural West African Para Games in Abeokuta, Nigeria, securing 8 medals in the first three days of competition.
The medal haul includes:
- Para Powerlifting: Silver and bronze medals from Tahiru Haruna (72kg–107kg), Isaac Obeng (59kg), and Daniel Kankam (65kg)
- Para Shooting: Silver and bronze medals from Isaac Adopleh in pistol and rifle events
- Para Badminton: Bronze medals from Akosua Nkansah (Wheelchair 2 Women’s Singles), Hayford Kwame Adasi (Wheelchair 1 Men’s Singles), and Atta Owusu (Standing Upper 5 category)
The athletes expressed their joy and gratitude at the podium, while their coaches praised their discipline and hard work.

Chef de Maison for Ghana, Mrs. Mary Apedo, expects more medals to be added to Ghana’s tally, as the team competes in Wheelchair Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball, and Wheelchair Athletics on Day 4.
