Ashgold and Kotoko will be back at the Len Clay Stadium later today  for the replay of the match day four of the  2016/17 Ghana Premier League(GPL) fixture which was truncated by four minutes into the second half on Sunday because of a heavy downpour in Obuasi.

Kotoko opened scoring through Yakubu Mohammed in the 14th minute. Amos Addai however canceled the deficit three minutes later for Ashgold. Yakubu Mohammed didn’t celebrate the goal which he scored by powerfully firing back a rebound after Ashgold goalkeeper, Ibrahim Iddrisu had frantically spilled a close-range, menacing shot by Prince Acquah seconds earlier.

All the work had earlier been done by the skillful Ollenu Ashitey, who cleverly dribbled two defenders inside the box on the left of defence. Acquah and Yakubu especially made Ollenu’s hard work worthwhile with his flawless finishing. The lead by Kotoko was impressive, the celebration by the fans was also massive except that, they were both cut short by Ashgold’s equaliser.

Goalie, Felix Annan in the 17th minute nicely intercepted an excellent cross from the right of Ashgold’s attack. As good as his interception was, he didn’t completely clear the danger in the goal area. Shots fired by Ashgold through a cluster of legs in the Kotoko defence were blocked but then, the third one, by Amos Addai entered the net leaving the scores at 1-1.

The first half ended with the weather being cloudy, giving signals of rainfall. It drizzled throughout the halftime. Most fans either left the stands or sought refuge under the VIP and the press box shed. The second half started with strong winds which made play difficult. The winds were instantaneously followed by heavy rains which forced Referee Prince Amoah to discontinue the game.

Line-up: Felix Annan, Eric Donkor, Ahmed Adams, Awudu Nafiu, Abeiku Ainooson, Edwin Tuffour, Seth Opare, Prince Acquah, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Yakubu Mohammed, Ollenu Ashitey. Bench: Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, Kwame Boateng, Osei Agyeman, Baba Mahama, Jackson Owusu, Emmanuel Asante, Ernest Sowah.
