AbdulSalam Mohammed Daaru, former secretary to the late Ayawaso East Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, has defended Hajia Amina Adam against claims of vote inducement during the Ayawaso East National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Primaries.
Speaking on The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Daaru said he has been closely involved with Hajia Amina throughout the primary process and can confirm she did not give any money to any delegate.
“I have no personal experience where Hajia gave any money to anybody,” he said. “Hajia believes in this context that it’s a community that has called on her to serve, and she went into the contest believing that candidates who love her will vote for her.”
Daaru acknowledged that the three-member investigative committee tasked with probing allegations of vote buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries held on February 7, has produced a report on the primaries, adding that they are awaiting its contents to discuss the matter in detail.

He emphasised that Hajia Amina’s main concern has been the image of the party, particularly at the constituency level, noting that Ayawaso East has historically been vibrant, but has not experienced vote inducement issues to this extent.
He also highlighted the broader concern of maintaining party unity and improving constituency organisation. “So that has been a concern on how we can work together at this moment to reorganise the party at the constituency level to ensure we advance the service of the community,” he said.
