Frank Annor Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, has urged President Akufo-Addo to halt the transition process until the Electoral Commission (EC) finalizes and declares the results for key parliamentary constituencies.
The call for a delay comes amidst tensions surrounding the parliamentary elections in Nsawam-Adoagyiri, where Annor Dompreh claims to have retained his seat by a 210-vote margin, based on provisional EC results.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Annor Dompreh called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to ensure that his supporters remain calm and refrain from causing disruptions during this critical time.
He emphasised that a peaceful atmosphere is essential for the EC to complete its work, especially in constituencies where election results are still pending.
Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) disputes the outcome, alleging their candidate won the seat.
“Let me appeal to the outgoing president, Nana Akufo-Addo, we know he has set a transition motion, as a matter of fact, we want to appeal to, he who comes with equity must comes with clean hands so the transition process should be halted. Nana Addo should halt the process.
“John Dramani Mahama, president elect must show same equity, must speak to his people and we must ensure all the other outstanding seats have been duly declared by the EC before the transition process goes on,” Annor Dompreh added.
