The Ministry of Health has launched an investigation into allegations of unprofessional conduct and systemic exploitation at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, commonly known as Ridge Hospital.
This was announced by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman in a statement dated Monday, January 19, 2026.
The move follows an investigative report by The Fourth Estate media house, which alleged that patients at the hospital were subjected to undue financial and administrative burdens. The report has since gained widespread attention on social media.
According to the Ministry, it “sympathises with patients and relatives who may have been subjected to any form of unprofessional conduct in any health facility across the country” and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to easing the stress and financial burden on patients.
“We are, however, deeply concerned and surprised by some of the revelations contained in the report. In view of this, the Ministry considers the issues raised as serious and deserving of thorough examination,” the statement added.
