Hearts of Oak has strongly condemned the violent incidents that occurred during the match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at Nsoatre Park, resulting in the tragic loss of a Kotoko supporter.
In an official statement, The club voiced deep concern over the incident, stressing that acts of hooliganism go against the core values of unity and entertainment that football represents.
Hearts of Oak reaffirmed the importance of preserving the sport’s integrity and advocated for the #BringBackTheLove campaign to rekindle passion and instill discipline in Ghanaian football.
“As committed advocates against any actions that dishonor our sport, Accra Hearts of Oak extends our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, affectionately known as ‘Pooley.’ His contributions and passion for the game will be remembered by everyone within the football community,” the club stated.
The club urged all stakeholders, including the Ghana Football Association (GFA), to take firm action against hooliganism, highlighting the importance of education and awareness in preventing future occurrences.
In response to the incident, the GFA has implemented strict measures, charging both clubs and imposing a ban on Nsoatreman from hosting matches.
Meanwhile, The Ghana Premier League has been suspended by the Association, and an emergency meeting has been called to address fan violence and improve stadium security.
