Heath Goldfields Ltd has announced the appointment of Mr. Patrick Appiah Mensah as the new Managing Director of the Bogoso Prestea Gold Mine, effective immediately.
The appointment signals a major step in the company’s strategy to restart operations and restore the mine as a model of responsible and sustainable gold mining in Ghana.
Mr. Mensah brings over 21 years of leadership experience in the mining industry, having held senior roles across Africa with companies such as Glencore’s Kamoto Copper Company in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gold Fields Ghana, AngloGold Ashanti Ghana, Barrick Corporation Tanzania, and Asante Gold Corporation Ghana.
He holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from KNUST, an MBA from the University of Bradford (UK), and has completed a Management Development Program at Harvard University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Mining Engineering and Management at the Colorado School of Mines, USA.
In his new role, Mr. Mensah is expected to lead the revitalisation of the Bogoso Prestea Gold Mine, which is currently under care and maintenance. His mandate includes securing investment, restoring operational readiness, and building stakeholder partnerships to ensure sustainable value creation.
The company says the appointment reflects its renewed commitment to “enrich lives through sustainable gold mining; delivering lasting value, empowering communities, and preserving the environment for future generations.”
