Heath Goldfields Limited has strongly denied what it describes as misleading and malicious publications circulating in sections of the media about its operations and obligations to former employees of the Bogoso–Prestea Mine.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 3, the Company expressed grave concern over what it termed “carefully coordinated” reports alleging non-payment of benefits, mismanagement, and irregular operations. It said the claims were baseless and intended to mislead the public and stakeholders.
Heath Goldfields clarified that it maintains a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Mine Workers Union, signed on August 8, 2025, which outlines the schedule and framework for the payment of legacy employee benefits and obligations.
According to the Company, it has been strictly adhering to the terms of this MoU, making progressive payments under the supervision of the Union. It reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling all legitimate obligations to both current and former employees.

Describing itself as a credible and law-abiding mining company, Heath Goldfields said it remains dedicated to responsible resource development, transparency, and sustainable operations in close collaboration with the Government of Ghana, regulatory agencies, labour unions, and host communities.
This follows earlier reports that indicated that some aggrieved former workers of the Bogoso–Prestea Mine, had appealed to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources to compel Heath Goldfields Limited (HGL) to pay their outstanding entitlements. The group alleged that after the company’s takeover and subsequent layoffs, many had yet to receive their benefits, including severance and redundancy payments.
While acknowledging the important role of the media, the Heath Goldfields cautioned that publishing or amplifying false, defamatory, or misleading statements about its operations, finances, or management is unlawful.

It warned that it would not hesitate to pursue legal action, including defamation proceedings and injunctions, against any media organisation, platform, or individual found to be circulating unverified or damaging information.
Heath Goldfields therefore urged the public and the media to treat such publications with caution and verify all information through official and credible sources.
