Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Ethel Esi Eshun, popularly known as Queen eShun, has announced that she is returning fully to the music scene, but this time, without a manager.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, February 28, the artiste shared why she believes managing her own career is the best path forward.
Queen eShun explained that after previously working with a manager, she decided to operate independently, particularly after taking a break for school. “It’s better for you to do something on your own,” she said, emphasizing that while a manager can support an artist, their interests do not always align with those of the musician.
She cautioned against signing contracts without careful review, calling some agreements “death traps” that can limit creative freedom and even delay song releases. “They trap you for a long time. They take your freedom,” she explained, sharing from her own experiences.

Instead, Queen eShun encourages artists to build their own teams, partner with distributors, and maintain control over their brand and career decisions. “You need people beside you, under you, after you—they are here because of you. It makes the job easier, and you get to your destination faster,” she said.
The singer also highlighted the importance of having a team that understands an artist’s vision, style, and goals. Without this alignment, she warned, managers could push artists in directions that conflict with their creative path.
