President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to completing key infrastructure projects in the Eastern Region, including the stalled Eastern Regional Hospital.
During an engagement with the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs at the Jubilee House, the President disclosed that steps have been taken to resume work on the project.
“The Eastern Regional Hospital stalled a bit and I have asked that the contractor go back to the site. We will pay him so that we can complete the project,” he said.
He also announced plans to expand healthcare delivery through new projects and policy initiatives.
The President further briefed the chiefs on ongoing efforts to operationalise the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS) at Bunso and improve access to healthcare through initiatives such as the Free Primary Healthcare Programme and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
In response, Nene Sakite II commended the government for its efforts and expressed optimism about continued development in the region.
“I would like to indicate that we are taking note of the work being done around us in the Region. And for that, we are greatly appreciative. We are hoping that work will continue till the end,” he said.
