The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seven officers of the Ghana Police Service in the Tema Regional Command to higher ranks in recognition of what authorities described as “exceptional operational performance.”
The promotions, announced on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, follow a recent anti-robbery operation at Community 5 in Tema.

The officers responded to an attack on a mobile money vendor, which escalated into a shootout with suspected robbers.
According to the Police Service, the confrontation resulted in the deaths of two suspects, with firearms, ammunition, and other items retrieved in connection with the incident.
The Police Management Board (POMAB), together with the IGP, congratulated the officers on their advancement and praised their courage, discipline, and dedication to duty.

Mr. Yohuno emphasised that promotion in the service comes with increased responsibility rather than personal reward, urging officers to uphold professionalism and discipline in all operations.
