Intra-Africa connect signs a 3-year partnership with Wakanow

Intra-Africa Connect has signed a three-year partnership with Africa’s leading full-service online travel company, Wakanow, on an initiative that would enable delegates and exhibitors travel across Africa for Business with ease.

According to Josephine Fifi Rurangwa, the Head of Africa Expansion and Airline partnerships at Wakanow, this agreement is hinged on Wakanow’s flagship product- Pay Small Small (PSS) – that alleviates the burden of outright payments for travel with flexible payment options; and gives travelers as much as 150% savings on their travel expenses.

“With PSS, travelers can now lock down choice fares by making an initial down payment of 25% of their total travel cost, and then gradually pay the balance in convenient installments before their travel date,” she said.

She added that Wakanow, as a show of her commitment to the initiative, would secure the best travel deals for the participants.

“As a company with an eye on also promoting business tourism, we would invariably and relentlessly facilitate movements across Africa. We have been speaking with African Governments and Airlines to sell the trade and investment prospects of traveling within Africa as Africans are increasingly awakening to the tremendous economic potentials within the continent. Therefore, we saw the reason to partner with Intra-Africa Connect and support her initiatives for the achievement of our corporate goals”.

Mrs. Leah Nduati Lee, Co-founder of Intra-Africa Connect, on her part, said that African business players are eager to scale up into the continent, but travel costs remains a prominent prohibitive factor. The arrangement with Wakanow therefore provides a cushioning against the cash-flow effects for businesses participating in trade events by Intra-Africa Connect.

The organization’s flagship event has been the Kenya Trade Expo in Ghana (2015, 2017), which has yielded fruitful businesses between Ghana and Kenya, as well as generated much needed awareness and interest.  Between 2015 and 2017 there was an 80% increase in exhibitor participation, as well as an increase in participant involvement at all levels.

This year, Intra-Africa Connect will host two trade events namely; The Kenya Business Safari which will take a Business Delegation from Ghana to Kenya, and The Kenya Trade Expo which will host a Kenyan Business Delegation in Ghana for exhibitions, business seminars, B2B meetings, and business visits.

“In the build up to the Kenya Trade Expo Ghana last year, Intra-Africa Connect conducted a survey, and one key revelation was that there was lack of awareness among Africans of what their fellow African countries had to offer.  Intra-Africa Connect is hence committed to opening up the continent to African businesses. Strategic partnerships like the one with Wakanow will go a long way in demystifying African Business and trade to our fellow Africans”, said Mrs. Nduati-Lee.

Wakanow is Africa’s largest Online Travel Agency with commercial operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and the UK. The company is currently undertaking a large expansion project which will result in stronger footprint across Africa, the UK and USA. Wakanow currently processes over 15,000 bookings in Nigeria monthly as the demand for African travel continues to grow.
