Asante Kotoko Head Coach Karim Zito has resigned with immediate effect, following the team’s Round of 16 MTN FA Cup exit to Aduana FC. The club accepted his resignation, thanking him for his contributions.
Zito, who took over in April 2025, led Kotoko to victories in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup, 2025 President Cup, and Toyota Cup. However, the team’s Ghana Premier League form was concerning, sitting fifth, eight points behind Medeama SC.
Zito had managed 37 games, winning 19, drawing 11 and losing 7 with 51% winning percentage.

Pressure from the fans after a recent poor run of results in the Premier League would account for the mutual parting ways of both parties.
Hamza Obeng will interim-coach the team, including the Super Clash vs. Hearts of Oak on Feb 15. The club is expected to announce a permanent replacement soon.
