His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini is in Kumasi for a special visit to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic and cultural ties between Eswatini and Asanteman.
As part of his itinerary, the King will visit the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) today, June 25, 2025, to gain insights into Ghana’s local governance system.
The visit will feature a comprehensive presentation by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs on the District Assembly Concept Ghana’s model of decentralized governance.
Mayor of Kumasi Richard Ofori Boadi-Agyemang say the highlight of the King’s visit to KMA will be a special General Assembly session held in his honour.

The session aims to offer the King and his delegation a firsthand experience of how Ghana’s democratic processes function at the local level, particularly in Kumasi.
The KMA boss described the visit as a significant moment for Kumasi, showcasing the city’s role as a center of traditional leadership, governance innovation, and international cooperation.
“This is a proud moment for Kumasi and a testament to the growing relationship between Ghana, Asanteman, and the Kingdom of Eswatini,” KMA Boss noted.
