Asante Kotoko has confirmed the tragic death of one of their fans, who was fatally stabbed during violent clashes that occurred after their Ghana Premier League Matchday 19 fixture against Nsoatreman FC.
In an official statement, Kotoko disclosed that the supporter suffered severe injuries in the chaos and tragically passed away later at the Sunyani Hospital.
Reports indicate that the entire Kotoko team visited the hospital, where they were met with the heartbreaking news.
The match, which saw Kotoko suffer a 1-0 defeat, was marred by chaotic scenes as players from both teams clashed, prompting the referee to issue four red cards. After the final whistle, the situation escalated, leading to violent confrontations between the fans.
Asante Kotoko has firmly condemned the violence and is calling on the Ghana Football Association to initiate an immediate investigation to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
