Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who’s being held for the alleged murder of his former girlfriend Victoria Dapaah at Adum in Kumasi on Thursday 20th April 2023 has confessed to killing the mother of one over GH₵5,000 he gave her while in an amorous relationship.

Presenting the facts of the case in court on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the Head of Legal and Prosecution of the Ashanti Regional Command, ACP Kofi Blagodzi on Thursday April 2023 at about 10:15pm a formal case complaint was filed by Mr. Emmanual Dapaah, Uncle to the deceased explaining that his niece Maa Aadjoa 27, had been shot by his former boyfriend at Adum in front of Dufie Towers.

The police proceeded to the crime scene where the deceased was found in a pool of blood with shot several and the lifeless body was deposited at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Investigation led to the arrest of the suspect in his hideout at Asokore in the Effiduase District of the Ashanti region.

He further explained “during Police interrogation, the suspect confessed committing the crime over GH₵5000 debt the deceased refused to refund after their amorous relationship went bad leading to crime’’ he told the court.

ACP Blagodzi added other police investigations also established that the suspect committed the crime in front of the deceased friend known as Eunice who was invited by Inspector Twumasi to accompany him to resolve his relationship issue with his former girlfriend.

Suspect Inspector Twumasi, while reacting to his charge in court, emotionally told the court, “it was never my intention to kill the deceased, only God knows what happened between the two of us there’’.

ACP Kofi Blagodzi pleaded with the Presiding Court Judge, His Worship Samuel Buaben Quansah for the suspect to be remanded into police custody for one month to enable the police conclude their investigations on the matter which was granted by the Court to reappear on 30th May 2023.

The police describe the conduct of the senior police officer as very offensive to the police service and all the effort the current Inspector General of police is putting up to restore maximum discipline in the police system.

“I want to assure you the family that the police service will do everything possible to give you justice in this case, be rest assured’’.

Deceased Family reaction

Uncle of the deceased Emmanuel Dapaah expressed satisfaction with the court process and expressed disappointment upon hearing the reasons behind the murder of his niece.

“I’m satisfied with the process and the police swift response to the case. I thought the suspect killed my niece because he had built a house for her, bought her cars but I heard none. He killed her because of GHc 5,000 I’m highly disappointed this guy must suffer for this crime’’ he said.

The Police on Sunday evening arrested Inspector Ahmed Twumasi.

The suspect, who was on the run since the incident was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti region as a result of a special police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident.
