Parliament was on Thursday, July 20, 2023, once again compelled to abandon its business as a result of lack of quorum for transacting business and decision making.
The Minority on Wednesday served notice of escalation of their protest against what they term persecution of Assin North MP James Gyakye Quayson.
The NDC MPs raised the issue of quorum to compel the House to adjourn arguing their side will not do government business for the majority who have equally been absent.
They accused the NPP MPs of abandoning their duties in parliament to follow vice president Bawumia on his campaign tour.
Thursday (today) was no different as MP for Tamale North Alhassan Suhuyini during the consideration stage of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO bill, 2022 raised the issue of quorum.
After back and forth the 1st Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu who was presiding was forced to end proceedings.
Speaking to the media after proceedings the 1st deputy Speaker attributed the acrimony in the house to lack of cooperation by the two sides.
According to him, the numbers game has never been played during the consideration of bills in his years in parliament.
The Bekwai MP pleaded with Ghanaians never to return a verdict of a hung during elections since it has brought the worst in both sides.
